There is a real possibility that the Republican party could have a brokered, or contested, convention. If no single delegate reaches a minimum number of delegates (1,237 in this case) after one round of voting, the delegates at the nominating convention can change their vote. At that point chaos could ensue has the party horse-trades for any nominee. Some in the party argue this would be a disaster. Others in the Republican guard want it to happen so they can force a nominee of their choosing into the general election.
