Opponents of President Obama’s strategy with Israel believe he has not reached out to Israel with the olive branch like past presidents. The argument is that he has favored the neighboring opponents of Israel more highly than them. Proponents of the President’s plan say he is protecting Israel by fostering improved relationships with other countries in the region. The current debate regarding President Obama’s policy with Israel is linked to a strained relationship with Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel. Netanyahu has been invited by Republican members of Congress to speak to Congress and the President has made it public that he will not be meeting with Netanyahu while he visits Washington, D.C.
